WiN-Lab (2025-2026): Integration of QKD technology in classical network environments

The realisation of quantum communication and especially its integration into existing networks currently still requires various developments and research.

Therefore, in the project period 2025/2026, different commerical QKD and KMS systems will be investigated with a focus on interoperability. Furthermore, the routing in quantum networks, the integration of the QKD keys into currently used protocols and aspects of operation, monitoring and management will be studied.

As networks with high-precision time and frequency transfer will play an important role in the future, likewise their concrete combination with quantum networks will be investigated.
